Gates open! The race finally starts! August Shipment Update
over 3 years ago – Wed, Aug 05, 2020 at 12:16:07 AM

Dear Backers,

Sorry about the radio silence, but the mold retooling dragged us into the peak season of Chinese production, and brought us to full August in a blink. But don’t despair, as we finally have some good news to share! The factory reported the end of the production process and we’re now ready to move all the stock to each hub. Our freight forwarder is working closely with the factory and the four main fulfillment centers that will help us deliver Unicorn Fever to you. The games will now travel to the hubs by ship or by land, depending on their destination.

Below you can find all the details that we have for now, keep in mind that the Covid19 is still roaming out there so these dates might still change on a moment's notice. Keep your hooves crossed!

AUSTRALIA / NEW ZEALAND / NEW CALEDONIA : These games are being handled by VR DISTRIBUTION. They’ll be travelling on board of a vessel(boat name is still TBA) en route to Adelaide, where it is expected to arrive around August 23.

CANADA, USA, PUERTO RICO: These games are being handled by QUARTERMASTER LOGISTICS. They’ll be travelling on board of the vessel CONTI ANNAPURNA 006E en route to Jacksonville, where it is expected to arrive around September 8.

EUROPE / SOUTH AMERICA / ISRAEL / KUWAIT / SAUDI ARABIA / BRUNEI: These games are being handled by FULFILLMENT EUROPE (which, despite its name, actually serves many parts of the world). They'll be travelling on board of the vessel HMM ALGECIRAS 002W en route to Hamburg, where it is expected to arrive around September 06.

ASIA: These games are being handled by VFI ASIA, but they are not travelling by ship; they are moved on land from the factory to their hub, where they’ll be rerouted to CHINA, HONG KONG, INDONESIA, JAPAN, KOREA, MALAYSIA, PHILIPPINES, SINGAPORE, TAIWAN, and THAILAND. We expect them to be delivered to VFI in the next few weeks.

After each cargo reaches its destination harbour and after the stock has gone through duty inspection, they will be received by the fulfillment hubs, from where they will be finally rerouted to their new homes.

Please note: we’ll still have time to update your addresses if needed, but only for a very short time. The deadline to change them is August 23. After this date the addresses will be locked on Backerkit and we’ll not be able to change them anymore. If you need to update it please reach out to us at [email protected] as soon as possible.

While not as glamorous or sparkly as the earlier production shots, we believe these photos of Unicorn Fever pallets ready to start their adventure are still a good eye catch, don’t you agree?

A tower of Unicorns!
Fancy blue pallets...
What a cozy container!

Eye catching indeed… And dare we say, a bit emotional too?

Safe journeys, Unicorn Fever!

That's all for this update, and remember you lot: Play Horrible, join the Guild!

the Horrible team

Almost there... July production update!
almost 4 years ago – Mon, Jul 06, 2020 at 12:23:26 AM

Dear Backers,

wow, June came and went and we barely even noticed! Time flies when you're really hard at work! No big news this time, but we wanted to share an update about the status of the project with you anyway. The adjustment we required to the production mold for the expansion unicorn that we mentioned in our previous update has been completed by the factory, and their production resumed... all of our Unicorns are now looking good! While the COVID-19 pandemic still looms upon us all, it looks like they’re back on track and moving forward.

While we can't give you an exact new date of delivery at this moment, we expect the whole production to be completed by mid-July (hooves crossed). After the production will be completed, everything will need to be collected and handled to our forwarder, who will deal with loading the games and extras on the various ships that will carry them to their destination continents... we’ll share the name of the ships as soon as they will be available, so that you’ll be able to follow the shipping process from the factory to our hubs in real time. Once the games will reach the hubs, your rewards will be picked and packed, and the final step of fulfilment will officially start... we're looking forward to that moment just as much as you!

To entice your appetite during the wait, we updated the digital version of Unicorn Fever on both Tabletopia and Tabletop Simulator with extra glittery magic and the final, hi-res graphics! While the extra glittery magic will probably not show on your screen, you'll still have the chance to try the game in its final form before you actually receive it, so give it a spin if you’d like. Note: You may find an outdated version of the rulebook listed at the above links, but fine folks at Tabletopia/TTS are aware of the issue and will update it soon; you can find an updated version here if you still find the old one there).

To nicely close things off for this update, we have another round of shiny pictures for you to gaze upon while you shiver with anticipation:

Expansion miniatures after the production tool fix... loads of Auntie Petunias!
Expansion boxes, ready to be assembled.
A loooot of cards ready to be cut!
Fully produced card decks, now ready to be shrink-wrapped.
Punchboards! Lots of Punchboards!
Rulebooks! Rulebooks everywhere!
Countless stacks of game boards!
Plastic inserts! Look at that marvelous pastel color!
Empty boxes ready to be filled with components, magic, and love.
You didn’t forget about the dice tower, did you? We didn't either!

And that's all for this update, folks!

Until next time! Play Horrible, join the Guild!

Sincerely,
the Horrible team

The good, the bad and the ugly... June production update!
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jun 02, 2020 at 11:38:52 PM

Dear backers,

when it rains, it pours. As you know already, our production was running with a bit of delay due to effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the factories in China (back when the pandemic hadn't spread to the rest of the world yet). Our manufacturing partners have done their best to catch up ever since they've been able to restart their activities, but unfortunately (as it may happen during any production) they run into an issue with the production of some of the miniatures... The expansion unicorns, to be exact.

After the first production test of these miniatures went smoothly (as we showed in our previous update), the first "real" production batch of the expansion unicorns pieces that we were shown by the factory unfortunately did not meet our quality standards, showing a few minor (and a couple of admittedly bigger) defects. It seems something went wrong with the final molding tools used for the mass production of these miniatures specifically (something that didn't happen for the miniatures from the core game).

We want the expansion miniatures to have the same level of quality of the miniatures from the core game, with the same crisp details and faithfulness to the art style of the game. This is why we made the difficult decision to request a retooling of the mold, which is already on the way... But unfortunately, this is going to cost us a few more weeks of production time (and for sure, we will not be able to start shipping in the first half of June as we previously hoped).

We know it’s sad, but we want to deliver the best product possible to all our backers, even if this means to deliver it a bit later than expected... We hope you'll understand. We will announce the final delivery date in a future update, once we will be sure the quality of the expansion miniatures will be on par with the rest of the project... Thanks for your patience!

Not all is bad, though, we got good news too! To keep your spirits high, take a look at some more production pictures (with the exception of the expansion miniatures, everything has been going on smoothly for the most part)!

One of the molds for the expansion miniatures during the retooling process.
A handful of completed Hilda miniatures... This is the quality we are talking about!
A few placeholder Unicorns in all their equine majesty, cozy inside their tray (not final color).
You will be able to store your sleeved cards inside the tray without problems!
The plastic tray of the core box will be produced in this lovely Pantone color.
The game board with a few tokens, and a whole punchboard with coins and gems!
The plastic gems with their final colors, matching those of the corresponding cardboard tokens quite nicely!

In the video below, you can take a first look at the glitter Sprint dice! Aren't they lovely?

Metal coins... Plastic gems... Glitter dice... Sparkly!
The magnetic bottle opener, front (to the left) and back (to the right): one of the crazy race gifts!
More gold coins on top of a cloth bag... And another crazy race gift, the plastic cauldron!

That's all for this update, folks! We will keep you posted with the rest of the production!

Until next time! Play Horrible, join the Guild!

Sincerely,

the Horrible team

April update! Production started, COVID-19 delay, shiny thingies to look at!
about 4 years ago – Sun, May 03, 2020 at 07:17:05 PM

Dear backers,

it's finally time for a "real" production update! We're extremely happy to announce that production has started for all parts of the project! Huzzah! If all goes well from this point on, according to our current schedule, the production should be complete and ready to ship by the first half of June (give or take). This is obvisouly good news, but it also comes with a small bit of bad news, too.

As we mentioned in our February update, despite our original plans to deliver you Unicorn Fever in July 2020, since then the COVID-19 pandemic appeared, wreaking havoc on the whole world and disrupting plans in almost all of human activities... Ours included. We are still unable to commit to a solid delivery date, but it is most likely that it won't be in July. We're sorry for this delay, but rest assured that we are still committed to deliver you Unicorn Fever as soon as possible. We will announce the new delivery date in a future update, thanks for your patience!

And now, prepare for a whole new load of shiny things to gaze at in delightful yearning! :D

Unicorn miniatures ready to be assembled! They will come pre-assembled for you, don't worry :)
The base parts of the unicorn minis, and the colored base rings that you will attach to them!
Production tests of the expansion unicorns (pre-assembled, as you'll get them in the final product)
The first cloth bags out of the production line!
A cloth full of giant-boards-to-be, ready to be processed!
A complete Giant Cloth Board (look at the hands in the corners for scale)!
Precioussssss! A bag full of metal coins and carrots (the KS-Exclusive first player token)!

That's all for today's update, folks! We'll keep you posted as the production goes on; in the meantime, stay safe and healthy!

Sincerely,

the Horrible team

Another quick update from the quarantine!
about 4 years ago – Wed, Apr 01, 2020 at 12:53:12 AM

Dear backers,

another small update from our self-quarantine. Most of the work is being done on the technical side of things now, so we don't have many new shiny things to show to you (but we remind you that you can take this time at home to study the rulebook of the game that we already shared in a previous update). We do have at least something shiny, though. Take a look!

Resin samples of the expansion unicorns, and first samples of the metal coins and first player token!
First sample of the wooden Glory tokens (victory points)!

We would like to share with you a few fancy pictures of the giant unicorns made by Federico, a member of our team who as a hobby is also a toy collectionist and photographer. Get ready for a rainbow overload!

Cinnamon Carmen
Duke Rodolfo
El Sparko Dorado
Frankie Flakes
Hilda Rainbowbreaker
Melody Sweet

Unfortunately we don't have many new pics to show you, but we wanted to share this small update with you nevertheless, and take a moment to reassure you that we are all safe and sound, working from our homes and doing our best to deliver Unicorn Fever to you all as soon as possible.

The whole HG team safely smart-working to bring you our next board games and video games!

We don't have any news regarding the final impact of the pandemic on the delivery of Unicorn Fever, but we will keep you posted in our future updates.

Until next time, stay safe!

Sincerely,

the Horrible team
