Campaign status update & Crazy Gift Race round 1 results!

Dear backers,

after a few extraordinary days, as it happens with all kickstarter campaigns, our pace has slowed down a little bit... but we're till chugging along at a steady pace, we're extremely happy (and grateful)! Your support means everything to us and to this project!

Since our last update you unlocked the new game variant that will allow you to play with 6 players, and an additional Contract card for the Leprechaun clan! Next up on our menu, a component upgrade for the Sprint dice (let's go glitter!) and a new unicorn miniature, Emily Ravenhoof! Regarding the "stretch goal" unicorns, we would like to point out one detail that we probably should have explained better: they will not be included in the "standard" box when the game will hit retail stores, but will be instead included in an additional "expansion" box... the Ultimate pledge only includes giant versions of the "base" unicorns because it is meant as an upgrade of the standard box. We hear your feedback, and some of you would like to have giant versions of the stretch goal unicorns too, but we explained why it will be extremely difficult to achieve in the FAQs of the project. With that said, keep the feedback coming, we are always listening :)

Finally (and we know you are all waiting for this)... it's time for the first Crazy Gift Race update! We were blown away by your enthusiastic response to this crazy idea of ours, thank you, thank you, thank you! This first round proved that Hilda's supporters are by far the most numerous, but the race is still pretty tight, and there are at least 2-3 other possible contenders for the final victory. And we should emphasize the when we wrote "Small Cauldron", we really meant small : it has a diameter of around 7 cm, and it is just 5 cm high! Remember: these are Crazy Gifts, not "useful gifts" 😜

Here are the results of the first round:

Hilda received the most votes, by a good margin. Frankie and Carmen were pretty close to each other, but Frankie gained the edge, by just 1 vote! The Gods of Sprint were on his side, though, as he is one of the two lucky unicorns to move 1 additional space this round... and this means that Hilda and Frankie are tied in first place! Carmen is doing her best, but she is two spaces behind them. El Sparko and Melody were also quite close to each other (with the golden blaze gaining just 1 vote more than the green sweetie), but the dice were in favor of El Sparko, who sprinted past both Carmen and Melody, reaching 2nd place and closely following the two race leaders, just 1 space behind them! Poor Rodolfo gained the least votes, and sits in last place.

The CRAZY GIFT RACE is starting! Also, new stretch goals revealed!

Dear backers,

not only we went past the 1000 backers milestone, huzzah during the night, you even took us by surprise and unlocked all the stretch goals we previously revealed during the Italian night, huzzah! Alas, this means that we were sleeping while this happened, so sorry if it took a while for us to reveal some more! The next stretch goal will be another popular early request you expressed in the comments: a new game variant that will allow you to play with 6 players! It will be followed by an additional Contract card for the Leprechaun clan, a component upgrade for the Sprint dice, that will have engraved symbols and will be made new with a fancy glittered plastic, and, finally, a new unicorn miniature!

Today we have another exciting announcement: our unicorns are so grateful and excited for your support that they want to make you a gift, but they keep arguing about what this gift should be! Their constant quarrels are starting to become annoying, so we thought, this is a betting game with racing unicorns, why don't we settle this on the race track and let the backers place their bets? Hence, we are thrilled to announce the start of an exciting ongoing event: the Crazy Gift Race!

The Crazy Gift Race is a social event: to advance, the unicorns will need YOUR support! Starting with this update, you will be allowed to post 1 comment and express your support to one of the unicorns each day: you can simply post a comment down here and write the name of the unicorn you want to support (e.g. "Hilda Rainbowbreaker", "Cinnamon Carmen", etc.) but feel free to express your enthusiasm with more creativity (e.g. "I vote for Frankie Flakes", "Go go go El Sparko Dorado!", "Blind them with your shining beauty, Duke Rodolfo!", "Make them green of envy, Melody Sweet!").

The race status will be updated once per day. Each day, the unicorn who received the most votes will move forward 4 spaces; the unicorn with the second most votes will move forward 3 spaces; the other unicorns will move forward 2 spaces, with the exception of the unicorn with the least votes, that will move forward 1 space only. You will have time to post your votes/comments until we publish the next race update the following day. We will also roll the Sprint dice once per day and include the results of the roll in the race status, of course! At the end of the race, the winning unicorn will get to decide which will be the gift you will all receive from our unicorns! 

Remember to post your votes on this update, we will update the race status tomorrow in a new "Crazy Gift Race" section that will soon be added to the main campaign page. May the best unicorn win!

3 stretch goals down, new stretch goals available! Also, painted action figure pictures!

Dear backers,

after reaching our funding goal before the end of the first day of the campaign, it seems our pace is even increasing! We are very near to the important milestone of 1000 backers, and we're hopeful we will reach it before the end of the first 48 hours of the campaign. Keep spreading the word and help us spread the unicorn fever! :)

We also already unlocked all of the stretch goals we revealed so far: 1 additional Goblin card, a kickstarter-exclusive metal version of the First Player carrot token, and a new lovely unicorn: Auntie Petunia!

With a bigger roster of unicorns to choose from, the setup of the game will be slightly changed: you can choose or randomly draw 6 unicorns at the beginning of the game. Then, you can attach the colored bases included with each copy of the game to link each unicorn to the track with the same color of the ring (if you put the red ring on a miniature, that unicorn will run on the red track, and so on).

With all these stretch goals unlocked, it was about time to reveal some more! Meeting next stretch goal will unlock an additional Contract card for the Gnome clan. The stretch goal after that will unlock a component upgrade for all the cards of the game to a higher quality linen material. Finally, the last stretch goal of this batch will unlock a whole new type of Contract cards: the Fairy clan (six cards in total)!

Finally, some of you asked us if we could share real pictures of the giant unicorn action figures... and the answer is a resounding YES! Here are the first production samples we received from the factory, with a resin version of the corresponding regular miniature for scale.

Please note that the transparent base of the action figures is currently attached to the sample figures with a small bit of clay, but it will be soldildy assembled in the final product. Also, ignore the missing tails on some of the small miniatures, resin miniatures are extremely fragile.

We did it already! Now let's go unlock some stretch goals...

Dear backers,

it was a great start! We went to sleep yesterday evening (Italian time) pretty confident we would have reached our funding goal by the time we got back to work the following morning... and that is exactly what happened! With 20 more days left in our campaign, there is plenty of time to unlock some stretch goals!

Before posting this update, we took a bit of time to read all your comments here, on our social media, and on BoardGameGeek. Then, we started a brainstorming session with the whole team, to see if we could make a few changes to our early plan for the campaign and satisfy some of the most popular requests that have emerged. These are the final results of our brainstorming!

One of the most popular requests seems to be a variant of the game for 2 players. With the "standard" rules of the game, playing with 2 players doesn't work really well, but given the apparent interest for a 2 players option our game designers decided to try some additional rules that change the game a little bit exclusively for this player count, and the initial tests are promising, so... here comes a new stretch goal! If we will reach 34'000€ (which seems extremely likely, let's be honest :P ) we will develop a variant of the game for 2 players that will be included by default with each copy of the game!

There also seems to be a bit of confusion about the Rainbow Tree Dice Tower addon and the promotion linked to it. To make things easier to understand for everyone, we decided to extend this promotion: you will get the Rainbow Tree Dice Tower add-on for free if you make a Standard pledge (or higher) during the first 72 hours of the campaign (this was initially limited to 48 hours)! There is a whole day more to take advantage of this time limited promotion now!

One final warning: as some of you may have noticed, we lost control of our unicorns, and some of them already started to reply to your comments here on our campaign and on our Facebook page. We won't be held responsible for their words if they will keep doing this (some of them even seem intentioned to start posting campaign updates of their own), but don't be scared: they are quirky and some of them may be a bit temperamental, but overall they are totally harmless.
